New dishes reach the catering menu in a couple of ways. Some follow the season, like chilled salads and grazing boards for summer, or hot side trays for winter lunches. Others come from the Italian regional cooking our head chef, John Thomas, grew up with in Umbria, reworked so they travel well to an office and still taste like home.

Whatever their origin, a catering dish has to travel well, hold on a table and work for a group, not just look good on a plate in the cafe. That is what we look for when we add something new. Some recent additions have already made it onto our best sellers page.

Recent additions have covered every part of the menu: hot side trays to go with roast chicken and lamb, Italian cold pasta and rice salads, antipasto and stracciatella boxes for sharing, new Italian pastries and fresh pasta recipes. The list on this page always shows the current additions, with their serves and dietary tags.

The easiest way to try something new is to add one new dish to an order you already know works. Swap one pasta tray for a new recipe, or add a new board next to your usual sandwiches. Our post on new catering platters in Sydney CBD explains some of the recent arrivals in more detail.

New dishes come out of the same kitchen as everything else: our own, on Bent Street, cooked by the chefs who run the cafe. When we add a dish, it is because we cook it well and think it belongs on an Italian catering menu, next to the pasta trays and antipasto boards it will share a table with.

We deliver new dishes the same way as the rest: in our own van, with our own driver, to your floor. We know the docks and lifts at Aurora Place, Quay Quarter, International Towers, 1 Bligh Street and Governor Macquarie Tower, so a new dish arrives looking the way we designed it. New dishes carry their dietary tags on the product page (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, Halal). Use the dietary filter on this page to see which new arrivals suit your group. As across the rest of our menus, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free options are standard, and Halal-certified options run across most of the range.

New recipes mean new ingredient lists, so tell us about allergies when you order. We cross-check every item for peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, shellfish, eggs, gluten and dairy, and label every platter. Our kitchen is not a fully allergen-free environment, so for complex needs, call us before ordering and we will go through each new dish with you.

New dishes go out on the same delivery runs as the rest of our catering, across the Sydney CBD, Martin Place, Wynyard, Barangaroo, Circular Quay, Pyrmont, Ultimo, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Potts Point, Woolloomooloo, North Sydney, Crows Nest, Chatswood, Macquarie Park and the inner Eastern Suburbs. Order by 2:30pm for next-day delivery and choose your time at checkout. Same-day is a call before 9am, and we will tell you whether it can be done. Large or custom orders need 48 hours, and three to five days for 200 people or more. We deliver Monday to Friday.
