For a long time, if you ordered catering from EATALO, the sweet side of the spread was an afterthought. The main events were easy enough to plan — sandwiches, pasta trays, finger food. People would add a panna cotta or two and call it done. It worked, but it always felt like the savoury side was getting all the attention.

We noticed this. We thought about it for a while. And then we did something about it.

Four new dessert platters, all available now. Cannoli, Italian tartlets, scones with house-made berry jam and whipped cream, and a premium pastry and biscuit platter built for morning and afternoon tea. Four different occasions, four different reasons to order something sweet. All made properly, all ready to serve straight from the box.

EOFY is the right moment for this. End of financial year events tend to be the ones where people actually want to feel like the occasion was considered. A platter of cannoli on the table says something different to a bag of supermarket biscuits. It does not have to be expensive or complicated. It just has to be real.

The cannolo is from Sicily. Not from a patisserie concept, not from a trend — from Sicily, where they have been eating them for centuries. The shell is fried until it blisters and crisps, and the filling goes in just before serving so it stays clean and sharp against the crunch. There is a reason the cannolo became one of Italy's most recognised pastries outside Italy: it is a perfect thing. Every element has a job to do, and every element does it well.

The Mixed Assortment is the right call for a team event — everyone gets to pick, there is something for every preference, and the tray looks like you thought about it. For a smaller group that knows what it wants, a single-flavour platter is very satisfying. The Pistachio Ricotta in particular is the one people come back to.

The tartlet is the format that gets things right on a catering table without anyone needing to explain why. One bite, complete flavour, no mess. The frangipane here is the detail worth noticing — the blueberry and ricotta combination in particular sits somewhere between a traditional Italian pasticiotto and a French tart, which is exactly the kind of thing that ends up being everyone's favourite without them being able to say why.

The nuts-free designation makes this the platter to reach for when you are catering for a mixed group and dietary restrictions are part of the planning. You do not have to think about it. Five flavours, all considered, none of them a compromise.

A proper scone is not a complicated thing, but it is harder to get right than people think. Too dry and it crumbles. Too dense and it sits wrong. The EATALO scone is soft in the centre and golden on top, which is the target. The house-made mixed berry jam is the part that makes it feel considered rather than assembled — made fresh in the kitchen, bright and properly fruity, the kind of jam that reminds you of what jam is supposed to taste like before it came in jars from a factory.

This is the platter for a morning tea that feels like it was chosen rather than just ordered. Scones with proper jam and whipped cream on a table of catering boxes is a signal: someone cared about this. That is not nothing, especially at an EOFY event where the point is to close a year well.

This is the platter for when the occasion calls for something that covers the whole room. A large box of carefully chosen biscuits and pastries, all different, all good — the kind of thing that goes in the centre of the table and slowly disappears over the course of a meeting or a celebration without anyone making a fuss about it. The selection varies depending on availability, which means it is always fresh and seasonal rather than fixed to a formula that gets predictable.

The pastry and biscuit platter works particularly well alongside the rest of an EOFY spread: put it out at morning tea, leave it through afternoon tea, and it carries the sweet element of the day without requiring a second order. At 30 or 45 pieces, it is designed to cover a crowd.
